Check for:
- Confirm the presence of a title accurately summarizing the page content.
- Ensure the title is unique from others on the website.
- Verify that the title effectively distinguishes the page from other web pages.
Image Text Alternatives
Check for:
- Every image has appropriate alternative text with it.
Text
HEADINGS
Check for:
- That the page has a heading.
- Meaningful reading hierarchy.
CONTRAST RATIO
Check for:
- Table with contrast ratio: The tool showcases a table presenting all potential
contrast ratios found on the web. - Eye-dropper to select colors: The tool allows you to pick a color and a background
color, and then it displays the resulting contrast ratio. - Turn off color: This tool shows you the page in grayscale.
Interaction
KEYBOARD ACCESS AND VISUAL FOCUS
Check for:
- That you can tab to all the elements on the page.
- That you can tab away from all the elements you can tab into.
- That the tab order follows a logical reading order.
- That focus is clearly visible as you tab through elements.
- That there is full functionality by the keyboard.
- That drop down lists allow you to move through the elements with the arrows.
General
MOVING, FLASHING, OR BLINKING CONTENT
Check for:
- That there is no moving, flashing, or blinking content that
starts automatically without controls. - No content flashes or blinks more than three times in one second.
MULTIMEDIA ALTERNATIVES
Check for:
- That media player controls are labeled and keyboard accessible.
- That audio does not start automatically without controls.
- That videos have closed captions available.
BASIC STRUCTURE CHECK
Check for:
- That information makes sense when read in order.
- That alt text provides good information for the missing images.
- That blocks of information has clear headings.
